Wind Energy Technology Summit 2022 coming up
After a successful first edition last year, SIRRIS is organising the Wind Energy Technology Summit for the second time. This year’s focus is on the importance of technological innovation to realise the federal government’s wind energy ambitions in a cost-efficient and sustainable way.
Three central themes will be addressed: the development of the Princess Elisabeth Zone, a new offshore wind turbine zone in the Belgian part of the North Sea; the link between offshore wind energy and hydrogen production; and the connection between cybersecurity and offshore energy.
Programme
The Wind Energy Technology Summit 2022 includes one masterclass and two thematic events, during which experts from home and abroad will share the latest knowledge and insights. There will also be opportunities for networking.
8 June | Thematic event: Emerging offshore technologies: Offshore production of green electrons and molecules
27 June | Masterclass: Research, development and innovation potential in the Princess Elisabeth offshore wind zone
29 June | Thematic event: The importance of cybersecurity for critical offshore (renewable) infrastructure |

Background information
The Wind Energy Technology Summit is an annual initiative of SIRRIS to inform and inspire Flemish companies and organisations on technological developments in the (offshore) wind energy sector. It is part of the Industry Partnership, which is supported by Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship (VLAIO).
For the organisation of this year’s edition, SIRRIS is collaborating with OWI-Lab, Agoria Energy Club, WaterstofNet, BERA and Blue Cluster. One of the areas Blue Cluster is strongly focused on is renewable energy. We are therefore happy to support this initiative.
